DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY AT ULEY SCHOOL
Children enjoy the challenges which this subject offers and use their creativity and imagination to plan and design effectively. We give children opportunities to explore everyday objects and discover how they work, using their findings to inspire and inform their own products. Children work both independently and in groups so they can learn their own strengths whilst also developing their communication skills and an appreciation for teamwork.

Impact
We monitor and assess the impact of our design and technology learning through both formative and summative assessments. Each lesson provides the teacher with the opportunity to assess the children against the learning objective, this may be through discussions with children or a more formal piece of work. At the end of each unit children will be assessed on their understanding by completing a short assessment.
We want our children to aquire skills, use technical vocabulary and use tools appropriate to their age group, and to apply their knowledge and understanding when developing ideas, planning, making products and evaluating. Through DT activities at Uley School, children will take risks, be reflective, innovative, enterprising and resilient.
